After much deliberation, the EverQuest II developers have decided to allow the time-locked server Varsoon to make it through even more expansions.
For those who aren’t familiar with it, Varsoon is a time-locked expansion that unlocks expansions automatically as time passes. Every 16 to 18 weeks, more content gets slowly released and the entire server comes with adjustments to better fit the server's progression.
After the community learned that the server would hard lock at Destiny of Velious, they went mad letting the devs know that they wanted more content. The devs state,
“We’ve received a plethora of community feedback regarding Varsoon locking at Destiny of Velious, and we heard you loud and clear! So, after much discussion within the team, we can’t fight this feeling and have decided to allow Varsoon to progress past Destiny of Velious to the Tears of Veeshan expansion!”
It seems the feedback weighed on the hearts of the team, and they felt like those who enjoyed the Varsoon server deserved just a bit more content before it reached its end. The schedule for the expansions rolling out spans from August 2024 until May 2025, giving fans plenty of time to enjoy and take part in all EverQuest II has to offer once more.
Varsoon isn’t the only part of EverQuest II that is seeing a few additions and updates, as the base title brings back a beloved event with new quests and items.
