EverQuest and EverQuest II got roadmap updates in the latest round of Producer’s Letters for both classic MMORPGs. In addition, three more expansions for EQII will join the free offerings next week.
For EverQuest, there’s an overview of every major happening since spring. There been new content for the Tempest Festival, the introduction of the new UI engine that continues rolling out, and a new Evolving ruleset TLP server. The Claws of Veeshan expansion went free for everyone last month, joining the list of free to play expansions.
Coming up this month is a new server merge and the beginning of the Scorched Sky event. In August, expect new quests and mission for Stone Cold Summer. September looks ahead to a DirectX X11 API port on the test server.
There's even a little hint for the annual expansion. “All I can say for now is that things are not always how we remember them…or are they?” Now it's time to determine what that might mean.
As for EverQuest II, there’s also both a review of the roadmap and some new free expansions on the way. In the spring, they made some changes to the Kael Drakkel server, launched the Empire of Antiquity update, and a new PvP TLE server, Zarrakon. In May, there was a big mercenary AI update. Last month, Summer Jubilee kicked off and added a new equipment slot for a plume. There was also new event content as well.
What's next? This month, three more expansions join the free to play list, with everything through 2017's Plains of Prophecy to be free. This means Terrors of Thalumbra, Kunark Ascending, and Plains of Prophecy.
In August, Summer Jubilee continues with Oceansfull Festival, including new updates to the even. September will be a big month, with Game Update 123, Shattered Overture, bringing two new Solo dungeons, two Heroic dungeons, new collections, new missions, new achievements, and more to keep you occupied. The beta for the update will begin on September 5th.
