EverQuest II’s new 2025 roadmap includes new server unlocks, new and returning events (some with new content), the next GUs, and of course, the annual expansion.
Darkpaw Games’ Head of Studio Jenn Chan recaps the end of 2024. Some of those highlights include the Darkpaw community’s $139k in Extra Life donations, as well as the 20th anniversary, the Heroes’ Festival, and end of year events.
The first half of 2025 will feature tiered raid unlocks for the Scars of Destruction expansion in January and February. Take on the challenge of Sodden Archipelago: Thawed Marshes this month. The Anashti Sul Desert of Flames beta is coming in January, with the unlock in February. February brings back Erollisi Day and will see unlocks for Tiers 2-4 raids for Scars of Destruction.
In March we can expect the GU128 open beta, giving a peek as to what is coming in the major update (launching in April), as well as the return of several events, Chronoportal Phenomenon, Brewday Festival, and Bristlebane Day. April will also open the Beast’r Eggstravaganza. May welcomes back Patches of Pride and June will feature Summer Jubilee’s opening, Tinkerfest. We'll see Summer Jubilee continue with Scorched Sky in July and Oceansfull in August.
The Extra Life incentives will be announced in July, and August will bring GU129 open beta and the launch of the update. Panda, Panda, Panda! returns in September, along with the Prelude event for the 22nd expansion, which will have a beta and preorders open in October. October also brings back Nights of the Dead. in the last 2 months of the year, we'll see another round of Extra Life, the Heroes’ Festival, the launch of the 22nd expansion, and Frostfell.
Throughout the year, we'll also see various content unlocks on the progression servers. There will also be a number of fixes and improvements ongoing throughout.
After the huge 2024 that was the Year of Darkpaw and celebration of all things EverQuest, 2025 still has much to offer.
