EVE Voice to Retire with the March Release

The EVE Online site has been updated with a brief post to let pilots know that EVE Voice, the embedded chat system, is retiring with the March update. This is one of the systems that is holding back the development of a 64-bit client and one that is used by less than 1% of the pilots in EVE Online. The removal of EVE Voice from the client is part of the "clean up of our in-game communications system".

With the prevalence of third party voice services such as TeamSpeak and Mumble and the explosion in popularity of Discord, all three of which most of our pilots use, we feel this is the best route forward to help prepare the EVE Online client for many more years of tireless service to capsuleers across the world.

The team has promised to reveal more about the new chat system "in the coming days and weeks", so be sure to swing by the EVE Online site from time to time to find out more.
