EVE Vanguard’s next First Strike playtest is now live, and if you are an EVE Online Omega member, then you’ve got your ticket into the latest round. There are some significant updates too, including a brand new mining laser prototype and new contracts.
As a sci-fi sandbox FPS, EVE Vanguard is expanding upon EVE Online, so you get to impact New Eden directly in new ways. The playtest is open from now through March 24th, and the new features are intended to deepen the connection between the two. There’s new warclone suit, designed for dexterity and for easier identification of your fellow players versus NPCs, and more reasons to work on goals, even together.
The new mining laser prototype will let you start acquiring mineral resources. so you'll have to survey the environment to find the ore and extract it, which ties into the introduction of Mining and Salvage contracts in the Vanguard update. These will contribute to suppression or corruption efforts in New Eden (your choice, as always) so as you complete these contracts, it will impact the ongoing conflicts, the pirate insurgency, and territory battles.
As you complete contracts, and extract ore, you’re also positioning yourself for the leaderboards. Successfully extract resources and complete contracts, and the top 10 mercenaries on the leaderboards can earn up to 3,000 PLEX. If you’re competitive enough or just want to flex your skills, you can also keep racking up rewards for completing objectives in these First Strike playtests. Acquire 20 clones via participation in the squad-based challenge to collect biomass at reclone stations to unlock the Corax Arkombine Arisen SKIN. As one person acquires a clone, all squad members get one, so this team effort can really pay off.
CCP is holding a special stream to dive into this new EVE Vanguard update today at 15:00 UTC / 11AM ET/ 8AM PT with the devs taking us all through the update. This will be followed by a Q&A on the EVE Discord.
