EVE Vanguard gets a brand new limited event starting today. Solstice is a huge update, adding a new tropical map, new features, the Adaptive Weaponry System to modify your weapons, new tools, and more.

Solstice is the largest event in the sandbox FPS so far. The event starts today and runs through July 1st. It’s launching along with the EVE Online Equinox expansion content.

The Archipelago map takes the EVE Universe into a tropical environment for the first time ever. The setting may be a jungle filled with alien flora and some waters you may not want to step in, but it also adds verticality and is designed to encourage close-quarters combat encounters too.

Perhaps the most significant feature in this event update is the new Adaptive Weaponry System. Fittingly for  a Sandbox fps, this system lets you modify your weapons behavior and stats through a number of chipset configurations that you can obtain, mix and match, and even used to create different modes. Once you figure out what fits your playstyle, you can then switch between the two profiles on the fly whenever you need them.

Take part in some new Industry-focused modes and activities. “Secured Salvage Sights” has you hacking into vaults while you are also fighting off enemy waves. Hunt down some important and valuable salvage in “Escape Pods”. “Mining Rights” lets you call giant mining vehicles down from orbit while you fend off other squads that get in your way.

Solstice also adds new tools and gadgets like proximity mines, a motion scanner, new weapon skins, and more

In order to play, you'll have to be an EVE Online Omega account holder, but CCP offers a free one-week Omega access by claiming it in the New Eden store by 8pm ET tonight or through a purchase of the Warclone Omega bundle ($9.99).
