EVE Online is gearing up for its next expansion, Equinox, and the latest video from the dev team breaks down the new structures and ways the expansion will reinvigorate nullsec.

Equinox, which releases on June 11th, brings with it new technologies from the in-game corporation, Upwell Consortium. These new structures are aimed at bringing new ways to play and interact with nullsec, where many of EVE Online's player empires - and player wars - are housed.

The Skyhook, for example, is necessary to reap the benefits of the new planetary resources coming with Equinox, while the sovereignty hub replaces existing structures like the I-Hub and the TCU, which already operate in many null-sec backyards.

The Skyhook also opens up access to new resources, such as Power, Workforce, and Reagents, which are necessary to power all of Upwell's new structures. Power determines how many upgrades a system's new Sovereignty Hub can bring online, while the new Workforce resource will provide the means of running the new upgrades in the system. Workforce can also be moved from system to system, though CCP states that "some conditions will apply" to this feature.

Reagents are new fuel types that are used to "keep the lights on" the new structures, as well as to power the new Metenox Moon Drill, which should make moon mining more efficient - and give a new structure to target in war aims in future wars.

The video is about ten minutes long, so grab a coffee and settle in, but it's great information for anyone curious what the new Upwell structures are capable of in nullsec space when Equinox launches this June. Meanwhile, EVE Online has been seeing a spate of battles, with the recent wormhole war raging, while two the largest power blocs in New Eden are still throwing down in large fleet battles, all while EVE Online celebrates 21 years.
