EVE Online's latest in-universe news report, The Scope, sets the stage for some of the pirate chaos that is poised to descend upon New Eden as the latest expansion, Havoc, inches closer to release.
EVE Online: Havoc was officially unveiled back at EVE Fanfest 2023 and is set to bring pirate factions to the Factional Warfare, with players able to align themselves with the Angel Cartel and Guristas NPC factions for the first time. The action centers on a new region which was opened during EVE Fanfest, Zarzakh, as it's the home of the Deathless, a mysterious entity in EVE Online aiming to sow chaos within the universe.
Capsuleers have been taking advantage of the shortened travel time provided by the new region by setting up forward operating bases of their own in systems that hold Jovian gates into Zarzakh. Apparently, the pirates are none too happy about this, as today's Scope video details an ultimatum to these player-owned structures.
Apparently, the two capsuleer alliances have 24 hours to move their giant structures, or the Angel Cartel and Guristas will start to take them out, inviting players seeking to be aligned with them for the upcoming Havoc expansion to join the fight to earn rep. It should be noted that one of the alliances threatened by the NPC pirates happens to be one of the largest and most powerful in the MMO, The Imperium, so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
You can check out the latest Scope video here in the article. It goes into some more topics other than just pirates threatening players, including the limits placed on trading EverMarks to combat laundering (likely to stop corps from rushing their way to that shiny new Angel Titan).
While you wait for the next expansion, maybe you'd like to spend six hours learning about EVE Online? Fredrik Knudsen's wildly popular Down the Rabbit Hole YouTube series broke down the history of EVE, which has seen over a million and a half views since going live on November 1st.
EVE Online: Havoc releases on November 14th.
