EVE Online's second expansion of the year, Havoc, has launched this morning, bringing new ways to engage with factional warfare, new ships and more to the New Eden star cluster.
Havoc, which was initially announced back at Fanfest 2023 in September, brings a number of new ways to play to capsuleers in New Eden, namely the ability to finally align oneself with two of the NPC pirate factions: the Guristas and Angel Cartel.
It's all part of a story thread that has been going on through the year, with the mysterious Deathless Circle inviting the pirate factions and similarly aligned capsuleers to the region of Zarakh, a beautiful, brutal new system within the game universe. Now aligned with the pirate factions, players will be able to impact factional warfare battlefields in a new way, sowing corruption and fighting against the major NPC empires in space - a new, chaotic wrinkle in the popular PvP gameplay format.

Also coming Havoc are new ships, namely battlecruisers and destroyers from both Guristas and Angel Cartel, as well as the much desired Angel Cartel's Azariel-class Titan.
EVE Online Havoc also aims to strengthen corporations by giving them even more control over Corp Projects, with the ability to auto-pay ISK to corp members, as well as a new Project Manager role to delegate this to more members. Additionally, corporations will be able to clone Corp Projects, making them easier to create in the system, and even set up what are, in effect, recurring quests in any other MMO. There will also be seven new project types for capsuleers to sink their teeth into.
December will see the alpha test of the upcoming FPS module within EVE Online, Vanguard, which will have an impact on the new corruption mechanics within the Frontlines of EVE Online from day one. EVE: Vanguard was formally announced at EVE Fanfest 2023, and it aims to be another meaningful way for players to interact with the EVE universe, thanks in part to its refreshing monetization model.
EVE Online: Havoc launches today, though some players have already started to feel the wrath of at least the Guristas, as NPC pirates attacked a Fortizar owned by The Initiative after being warned to move it in a recent Scope video. The other player-owned Astrahus threatened by the pirates, owned by DECOY Alliance, was destroyed by Angel Cartel and players this morning who claimed to be working on behalf of the Deathless Circle. So roleplaying in the Havoc era has already kicked off in full force.
