Ever fancy yourself a space politician? Want to represent the interests of your playstyle and friends in all areas of New Eden? Well, the Council of Stellar Management has just opened applications for CSM 18, running now through August 15th.

EVE Online's election season is now officially underway, with interested players able to sign up for the chance to be voted onto the player council. This term's CSM, CSM 18 as it's known in the game, is set to be voted on during the lead up to this year's EVE Fanfest 2023, with the winners announced during the festival.

If you recall, CSM 18 will look a bit differently than previous councils. While term limits have made it so many long-standing members can no longer run for office this term, the other major change is that there will be two new members added to the council in addition to the normal 10-player panel.

These two members will be chosen from the players who placed 11th through 20th in the voting, and will be chosen by CCP Games themselves. As we reported previously, CCP Games states that they will select the two additional members based on "what areas of knowledge" they think will be "most valuable" to the council based on content they have coming down the pipeline. This decision was influenced thanks to EVE Online's development moving from Quadrant updates and back to expansions.

We took a deeper dive into the CSM back in 2019 at EVE Amsterdam, speaking with then CCP Guard about its role, as well as former member (and previous MMORPG.com contributor) Jin'Taan about the goings on with the council. EVE Online's roadmap for Q3 and Q4 2023 was just released, with game director CCP Rattati taking a look back on 2023 so far.
