This year’s EVE Online Capsuleer Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the legendary MMORPG, ties in heavily with ongoing intergalactic affairs as the game’s canon civilizations fight against the unrelenting Drifters.
The official announcement post explains that players of all playstyles are encouraged to participate in this year’s challenges, which will offer SKINs, ships, and rare items. While Drifter wormholes have the best prizes, all areas of New Eden will have opportunities to earn these rewards.
Capsuleer Day will unveil two new combat sites in Drifter wormhole space, though these will be quite hefty battles, it seems. The Labyrinth Complex will be gated to Tech II battlecruisers, and the Nexus Point promises “an even greater threat,” with more rewards promised for higher-stake battles.
Most importantly to those invested in the game, the ongoing Factional Warfare, which has seen its top five emerge, will see more prominence in EVE Online’s war with the Drifters, as these Factions will be allowed to push on to gain control of Drifter systems. The post warns that these battles will be of great importance to the wider universe, so capsuleers of all walks are encouraged to help this war.
Capsuleer Day XII starts on April 15, and is ongoing until May 15. Taking place during these dates is also the EVE Fanfest from May 1 to 3 in Iceland, which sold out this year in record time.
