In a new video ahead of tomorrow's Revenant update, EVE Online's Game Director Snorri "CCP Rattati" Arnason talked briefly about the force projection tweaks coming.
In the video, which looks like it was made with Instagram and vertical media in mind but also (thankfully) published to YouTube, Rattati breaks down briefly some of the changes coming with force projection in EVE Online when the update goes live tomorrow. Working with the player-elected Council of Stellar Management (CSM), the update will bring some big changes that could mean more engagments and a switching of strategy in nullsec space.
The big change is removing the auto-repair from the Ansiblexes (jump gates for those who don't speak EVE), which means that if an enemy fleet starts to attack an Ansiblex, the defenders can no longer simply rely on an auto-repair to save their structure - they will now have to go out and meet the challenge. This same strategy was added to the Metenox Moon Drill, a new structure brought with Equinox last year, and it's had some great effect.
Additionally, Pochven Filaments, which are constantly used by players to "get out of trouble" as Arnason puts it, will be tweaked giving players who are chasing filament users a better chance of actually catching their quarry. Spool up time will be added to Pochven Filaments, slowing the activation of a filamnet and providing a window for the hunter to close in and engage before their prey is lost in the sea of Triglavian space.
