EVE Online is gearing up for its next expansion, Revenant, and this time, the team behind the space-faring MMO is breaking down its upcoming Mercenary Dens and highlighting the two new ships coming with the expansion.
Revenant picks up where this summer's Equinox left off, aiming to bring more content drivers to Null Sec space, all while picking up the pieces left by the siege of Zarzakh. As part of the expansion, a new structure will be available for corporations to deploy around Skyhooks orbiting temperate planets, Mercenary Dens.
These dens use the workforce harnessed by the Skyhook to create encrypted infomorphs, which are "highly prized by the Deathless." However, CCP Games, in their news post about the update, touts these structures as "powder kegs waiting to explode," as Mercenary Dens should provide new targets for an opposing fleet to target.
"They’re not just treasure troves though, but powder kegs waiting to explode into fierce battles for control. Anyone can sneak in and set one up, turning nullsec into a playground of covert ops and daring raids. Manage the delicate balance of development and anarchy, and you could reap incredible rewards – or watch your enemies profit from your downfall."
To help with this, the Deathless are giving capsuleers access to two of their ships, the Tholos Destroyer and the Cenotaph Battlecruiser. These new ships take advantage of the new damage-over-time weaponry coming with EVE Online: Revenant, and are great at stealth thanks to its use of covert ops cloaks, as well as fast, nimble, close-quarters fighters when they need to be.
EVE Online: Revenant releases on November 12th, and should start to more fully unveil the narrative beats the team has been teasing for a few weeks now, including the now partially de-cloaked structure in Zarzakh. All this is happening with the backdrop of one of the largest voluntary migrations in EVE Online's history, with CCP stating in an email to MMORPG that this is the largest asset transfer in EVE's history.
