EVE Online's year long Invasion is coming into its final chapter, as today the Icelandic studio announces Invasion Chjapter 3, beginning today. This Invasion is a culimation of not just this past year, but set up from story threads going back to events such as Caroline's Star in 2014. The final chapter of the Triglavian invasion of New Eden begins today, allowing players to start earning standings with the mysterious Triglavian Collective.

New Eden's in-game news agency, The Scope, released a video detailing some of the events surrounding the next phase of the invasion into known space.

The culmination of the Invasion brings players into the conflict between EDENCOM and the Triglavian forces all across high and low sec space. Players have their choice - they can side with the four major Empires and EDENCOM against the Triglavians, or they can join the Collective, setting up a clash between capsuleers.

New Eden will also see new structures coming to EVE Online, as well as playing a key role in how the story develops from here.Via the Press release from CCP:

“At the core of EVE Online is a universe where actions have consequences, and this year the consequences of the Invasion storyline will have deep and lasting effects on players. Players will have to make their choice carefully - will they side with the new invaders, or will they resist?” said Bergur Finnbogason, EVE Online’s Creative Director. “Chapter 3 delivers a universe-changing event with a series of activities and player-driven decisions that will span the summer and change the landscape of EVE forever!”

Capsuleers can also expect improvements to the gameplay mechanics surrounding player-built structures thanks to the Forsaken Fortress update hitting May 26th. For now, it remains to be seen how Capsuleers will face the oncoming Invasion - will they choose to side with their existing empires and EDENCOM, or will we see players join the Triglavians? Either way, EVE seems poised to have a thrilling conclusion to its year-long Invasion expansion.

We had a chance to sit down with Bergur Finnbogason and Saemundur Hermannsson of CCP to talk about EVE Online moving forward. Stay tuned for that interview later this week!
