If you missed your chance to be immortalized in EVE Online's history before, CCP Games has announced a new chance to be on the EVE Monument ahead of its 20th anniversary this year.
The EVE Online Monument is a physical structure in Reykjavik, Iceland, and it commemorates not just the sci-fi MMO itself, but the early capsuleers who made the MMO what it is today. Each name is finely etched into literal stone and stands for any visitor to see on the monument.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, EVE Online developer CCP Games is opening up the chance to get your name etched on the monument if you weren't a player the first time around. For those whose name is already immortalized in stone, CCP Games is adding a distinction to your entry with a Titan Chevron next to your name.
"The Worlds Within A World EVE Monument in Reykjavík, Iceland, is an awe-inspiring tribute to dedicated EVE pilots that was created as part of the celebrations around EVE’s 10th anniversary and is engraved with over half a million names for all to admire. Now, for the first time in 10 years, you have the rare opportunity to add your character’s name to the monument and forever join the legends of New Eden in being immortalized! "
To be eligible this time around, players will need to have an active Omega account, EVE Online's premium subscription account, on May 6th, 2023, regardless of time zone. That's it. If you have an Omega account active that day, the character on your account with the highest number of skill points will be engraved on the monument to be unveiled during this year's EVE Fanfest 2023, which takes place in Reykjavik this September.
If your name is already engraved in stone, you'll have the chance to choose which character you want to be engraved as well, just in case you have a new capsuleer with more skill points than your previous entry.
You can check out the full blog post for details on the EVE Online website. Additionally, CCP Games is teasing its next Capsuleer Day event, stating that there will be many "unexpected twists and turns" starting on May 2nd. The renewed monument isn't the only thing being created to commemorate 20 years of internet spaceships, the team also put together a mosaic made up of the players themselves, which will also be revealed in May.
