EVE Frontier Founder Access opens up today, letting those hungry to jump into CCP’s new survival sandbox access to a 24/7 closed alpha server.
The arrival of Founder Access is the next stage in development. In Frontier, you are a husk, newly awakened in the darkness. As a survival sandbox, you'll have to get up and explore, learn how to build, and how to survive. others will also be waking up and there are more than 100,000 star systems filled with things to discover, and opportunities.
When it comes to CCP and EVE, they are going to trust their players, so a survival sandbox fits. CCP calls it “a merciless space survival experience that will reward player skill, awareness and mastery over the environment”. Again, since there's an open single shard, player driven economy, ecosystem that you can modify through a number of programmable layers, features, and blockchain creation tools..
“Our long-term vision is to create an open ecosystem built, operated and governed by the Frontier's inhabitants themselves. Founder Access is the start of a new and exciting phase in this development, giving players the chance to be a foundational part of our collaborative approach in a meaningful way,” CCP’s CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson says in a press release.
CCP is still taking applications for playtests, or you can purchase access. EVE Frontier offers several price tiers, with varying perks. Awakened level, at $29.99, lets you into the new closed alpha, and gives a month of post-launch premium, an Awakened portrait, and a skin. The $59.99 and $89.99 levels (all levels are currently $10 off) offer more skins, and let you have name reservation pre-launch, as well as 24 hours early start for the mid-tier package or 72 hours early start for the most expensive package.
The length of your post-launch premium subscription also varies depending on the package. Other perks include things like Discord roles and access to developer streams.
