In a new update today, called “ A New Dawn” Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore’s lead dev announced he had bought out full 100% ownership of Ethyrial and a look ahead as to what this means. The development company, which will still self-publish, is now called Oath Games.
When Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore launched last year, developed by Gellyberry Studios and published by Freedom Games, the state of the game was admittedly pretty broken. Additionally, there was a subscription and things did not go well. Weeks later, the dev team parted ways with Freedom, and decided to self-publish Ethyrial under a massive overhaul plan that they began last summer. According to the new blog post, this 100% ownership stake comes after buying a 50% stake last July, after the failed launch and the complete overhaul plans were announced.
So what’s ahead now that Oath Games is here? A lot more continued development and a small bump in team numbers too. “Our Oath is simple: Deliver Fun & Exciting content to our highly valued players at a rapid pace. The extremely talented Karlsson & SudsMcDuff remain on the team, as well as new members schreeder, Junimo & Bardcore!”
If you’ve looked at Ethyrial at any point since the overhaul, you’ll find a very different game. Fixes have been patched in, new features have been added, and general patches happen a couple of times a week. In nine months, with one full-time dev and a few part-timers, the team has led the overhaul on a 24/7 server in open development while the game is fully free to play. They’ve added a number of features like 10 free character slots per account, More than 50 new skills with a complete tuning pass, adding Global chat, updated servers, mounts, seven group dungeons, three world bosses, one solo boss encounter released this March, and much more.
Now that there are a few more helping hands on the team, Oath is hoping to get Ethyrial some more attention and attract some new players.
