Eternal Tombs, which held an extended playtest in September with five new zones, has revealed some October test dates, major combat rework details, and a new trailer.
The new playtest will take place between October 11th to the 13th. Last time, the team decided to test the servers as much as they could so they extended that test. There's no word if this will happen again, but if you're interested in testing out the game and helping the team to improve things, your chance is coming soon.
There are definitely improvements to be made, since the team is working on a combat overhaul that stems from feedback from previous tests. What they're looking to do is improve the combat system, since it was a little complex with non-standard controls that threw some people off.
“While interesting and fast paced, especially as players progressed, this required too much of a learning curve and wasn’t really comfortable to new players. We’ve overhauled much of the combat controls to be far more in-line with mainstream games and the results have been met with very positive feedback,” said Eternal Tombs' creative director Josh, in the update.
So this upcoming test is important since they are looking to get feedback on the combat improvements. Feedback from both players who already experiences their previous combat system via playtests and from new players should help at this important stage. Not only are they working to make controls a little more streamlined and feel familiar, they're working on other aspects of combat like blocking, critical hits, AI, swing timing, and visual updates. In the new update announcing the test dates, they emphasized that feedback at this juncture on a combat rework is crucial to help them refine combat before their eventual next phase of development.
