Eternal Tombs’ July update is out and we get some new zone and lore previews, and updates on testing.
The game’s creative director, Josh, knows it has been a while since they announced a playtest, despite having announced their intention to hold a series of public tests. Triune has been working on the game since the first test and all of the lessons learned from it, instead of just three new zones in the next test, there will be five. Within all of the areas there will be mysteries to uncover, more quests, secrets, and events. We get some previews in the new development update.
The Vissal people get a mention. Loyal to Dragnorox, these snake-like people haven’t been seen in a long time. However, their presence is still felt in ways, including in the mysterious work they are doing within a temple that they have disappeared into and taken refuge. One of the objectives you'll have is to find out what's going on. You'll need a key to get into the temple, and so you'll have to figure out how to obtain one.
A zone we get to preview is Ashen Valley, home to a Druid Occult that is still loyal to Dragnorox. They have been known to sacrifice Elves on the altar of Dragnorox worship. However, they are not unopposed, as a group, the White Sky, is out there trying to help the Elves escape and remain safe from all of Dragnorox’ followers. There are other faithful followers out there, and you'll have to learn about them.
We also get a preview of an elk-like creature known as the Ulfur, which shouldn’t be underestimated. “The Ulfur are a wicked bloodthirsty aberration created by Malkor, a Councili Tenadaii member with an expertise on using magic to create new creatures and their foul deviations”. Their hides are valuable for crafting, though, so the risk may be worth taking.
The Eternal Tombs team is circling the next testing phase. In addition to having five new zones in the next test, a tentative schedule has been revealed. On August 1st, they will release the latest patch to a small group of testers. if all things go well, in late August or early September ,we should see the next public test.
