Eternal Tombs is getting its first pre-alpha playtest on April 2nd, and the Triune team is sharing a brand new crafting preview for the dynamic MMORPG.

Sharing on the official Discord, the plan for testing includes the game’s starting zones of Southmir, Tradeport, and Woodland Commons, to let players step into the primary hub in the world of Mithir and help the team test out their build, infrastructure, and help them to squash some bugs.

And they warned that there will be bugs and balance issues and some potential issues with scaling and infrastructure as more players get a chance to enter the test build, the team will get to know exactly what kind of tweaks they need to put into effect.

The April 2nd test is designed to give everyone a chance to level until about level 10 through fighting different types of enemies, taking part in events, doing a little exploration, including through crypts or caves, completing quests, and trying out some crafting.

Crafting is the subject of Eternal Tombs’ latest preview video. The systems are an integral part to getting some of the top gear in the game, which will have no microtransactions and make everything available via gameplay. Crafting is also, as the preview notes, “the best way to acquire vast amounts of wealth”.

Traditional mechanics like exploring Mithir and collecting resources matter, but resources have their own stats and properties, so the items you build will be tailored to the combat style you need, and your resource quality will affect the outcome of your recipes greatly. You'll even leave your own mark on important items like gear and weapons that you craft. If you are consistently producing great items, this could establish your name and grow your fame.

Some crafting professions are available by default, and others you'll have to acquire, sometimes through deep exploration. If you train your skills, grow your reputation even more. You'll also be able to open your own shop, whether that is in the middle of town in hubs or a more exclusive and hidden location. There's no auction house, so it's all player driven. That's another reason why crafting is such an important resource for wealth.

Crafting will be part of the experience for the April 2nd playtest. If you don't have a chance to take part then, the Eternal Tombs team is planning on new test sessions every 2 to 3 weeks, with the time in between new tests spent fixing bugs and improving the game.  Before the test, there will be some peeks via content creators.
