A new update has hit Escape from Tarkov Arena, and with it comes a hefty amount of new content and changes for players to enjoy, but will the players be impressed after the recent happenings?
The developers at Battlestate Games have been under massive fire lately, as not only did they release a $250 Unheard Edition that caused an uproar, but they also decided that the other pricey bundle they added, Edge of Darkness, wouldn’t include the latest PvE mode. This decision caused even more of a stir within the community and has players in a tizzy over what could possibly happen next.
The chaos began when the devs announced the Unheard Edition, as players felt that this made the game pay-to-win, and just because someone had the money lying around they could gain an unfair advantage. Those who purchase the Unhead Edition gain a larger stash to utilize, improved skills, and “increased fence standing” that allows those with a higher reputation with the AI scavs to avoid being shot as often.
To make things even worse, they also decided that the $100 bundle, Edge of Darkness, would not include this new PvE mode. Of course, a little while later, they backtracked this choice, but not in the best way. They then decided that they would allow Edge of Darkness buyers to access the feature for six months maximum rather than for the entirety of its existence. This also sent players into a rage, as they felt they were being robbed of what was promised.
Yet again, Battlestate released a statement saying that Edge of Darkness players would in fact have full uncapped access to the latest “non-DLC”, but that the access would be rolled out to buyers in waves rather than all at once.
Now, there is a new list of changes and updates that came with Escape from Tarkov Arena, but will players be happy about this when they have yet to fix the other issues at hand?
Some of the things that were released with the 0.1.7.0 update would be the new game mode, LastHero, that is available for the unranked game mode. This is a deathmatch between several players, and the goal is to get the most kills in a specified amount of time. Players will then be ranked based on the number of kills once the match ends after 10 minutes. How the player gets rewarded is solely based on what place they manage to take throughout the battle.
There are also a few changes, such as reduced base inertia strength, reduced aim punch effect, reduced blur effect when a player takes damage, and reduced camera shaking while firing a weapon.
