Battlestate Games has published a new FAQ for their MMO-Shooter/RPG hybrid game Escape from Tarkov and below you can find the translation of few of the interesting points. We will translate more over the coming weeks.

What is Escape from Tarkov? Who is developing it?

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore plot-based MMO-game that contains features from FPS / TPS and RPG with MMO elements. The developer is Russian company Battlestate Games, which is located in Saint Petersburg.

Will the game be F2P?

The game will be exclusively buy-to-play, it is bought once and for all. We do not plan on micro transactions, but plan on inexpensive DLCs.

Will Escape from Tarkov be a session shooter? What modes will be present in the game?

Technically, no. The game will consist of few modes. Players have only one life, and upon death they will lose everything they had or have earned on the location.  (In another interview it was stated that the players will lose the equipment they own or have found in the raid, but the skill points, experience and the cache will remain)

The first mode will be out with the release of the game – it is plot-based playthrough. The timed game session (which will usually last about hour to hour and half) will be taking place on large open locations of about 5 to 10 square kilometers. The player’s objective is to sequentially pass these scenarios, the goals of which will be varied, based on the plot premises. After the player is done with one scenario, another one will be unlocked. The player can return to the finished scenario to continue to search for specific loot or more thorough research that can lead to opening of special side locations.

After all 10 or so scenarios are completed, the players will unlock freeroam mode in which they can move freely around the area of 15 square kilometers without any time limit. Arena mode, similar to gladiator fights, will also be provided.

The original FAQ is in Russian language, but you can sign up for alpha testing on the Escape from Tarkov site and come back next week for more information on the project.
