With Embers of Neltharion on the way on May 2nd, World of Warcraft has a preview of a new zone, Zaralek Cavern.
As you might guess from a zone with “cavern" in its name, this place will take us far underground. This time expect to go underneath the Dragon Isles into an underground world to navigate. This one is not just packed with new content, it will also add some new layers to Dragonflight lore.
As with any new zone, expect new allies, new challenges, and a host of other inhabitants to encounter. One of those allies will be the drogbar, who you’ll find in those caverns. You should recognize the drogbar, but there are still surprises to be had. They have their own culture that you can learn about and Even become more familiar with their interests, which include”lifting heavy things and snail racing’. Of course, you’ll be able to participate in snail racing too. Get Brulee the snail with a crystal shell, over the finish line and earn a new achievement, Zoom!and a snail pet to keep.
Also to be found down below are the niffen, some friendly molefolk right at home in the deep caverns. They specialize in being entrepreneurs, so they are always willing and up for a trade if you visit them. In addition to being able to get your hands on some goods, you can open up a Renown track with the niffen as you progress through the campaign.
Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible is a new raid, where you’ll finally encounter Neltharion’s laboratory and uncover some important secrets:
“Gather your allies and breach Neltharion’s secret laboratory hidden within Zaralek Cavern. Here, he created the dracthyr and ultimately succumbed to the whispers of the Old Gods and their corruption.”
Prepare for nine new encounters to decipher and complete.
Even down below, you will find new Dragonriding races. These come with some new dangers though, since you’ll have to navigate stalagmites and stalactites, lava, and narrow openings as you race through the caverns. There will be six Glyphs to help you out and two new traits for Dragonriding.
