Embers Adrift Updates on Steam Migration, Continues Improvements

There's an update in Embers Adrift's upcoming release on Steam, according to Stormhaven Studios.

The team is working to get their MMORPG on Steam following a dispute with their former payment processor, which resulted in a lack of payments for several months. After canceling the contract with the payment processor, Digital River,  in order to continue development and of course, to continue running the game, Stormhaven needed to take action and bring in some revenue.

This is when the team announced that they would migrate over to Steam, with all payments running through Valve. When they made this announcement, they also made Embers Adrift temporarily completely free to play with no restrictions on accounts. At the time, the estimate of when the game could move to Steam was a couple of months. Now we are just about a month after that announcement with an update on the process. Namely, the Steam page could be up by this weekend.

Sharing over on Discord, where the monthly patch notes were also released, Stormhaven says that,

“The STEAM page is nearly ready, we are going through review and our goal is to have that launched by the weekend!” While it is just a first step, it is progress.

In the latest update, most of the focus is on a series of bug fixes and improvements, along with a few aesthetic and practical improvements to the player experience. There’s more in the patch notes, for example:

“Added a candle near the mailbox in Grimstone Canyon as per a player request.

Giant Crocodile is now more giant”

If you still want to check out Embers Adrift while the process continues, it is still free to download and play and try the game out with all subscriber perks enabled.
