Embers Adrift’s latest update continues work on quality of life changes, affecting things like cooldowns, UI, and /follow. There’s also a big crafting update, and adjustments to the adventuring experience curve.
The XP curve is getting adjustments to reduce the number of kills you need to level up, and levels 14-44 may see up to a 30% decrease in required kills. Levels 45-50 are getting a bit of an increase in kills needed. This should help take the slog out of the mid-range levels And return some additional challenge to you when you are at a more advanced level. Alchemy 1&2 cooldowns are now independent from each other. A new macro bar will let you create five customizable chat macros with keybinds. Subscribers will be able to use the /follow command.
Embers Adrift is still temporarily free to play until they sort out moving over to Steam, so if you want to test out subscriber perks you can do that before deciding if you want them later.
Crafting is getting some important changes, and this means the itemization v2 update is here. The Stormhaven team said this was in the works a while back. This update accomplishes several things. Their goals included making crafting to be more in line with dropped gear to offer options. All basic crafted gear will now be advanced/Green with associated material bonuses. They also wanted to make differences between material types more distinct, and correspond to character stat preferences, as well as offer new mechanisms to create and work towards higher quality gear that can offer other benefits.
Radiant Flux is the new tier of flux that will fuel those new gear recipes. To create radiant flux you will need 20 normal flux but the output is going to be Mythical level/purple crafted equipment.
Some of the changes include reworks to all kinds of recipes, including consumables, rare imbued / enhanced recipes replace boss drops for Gathering refinements, and basic recipes are going to be more readily available from creatures. Creature resource recipes should be easier to get.
Since the crafting changes affect almost all crafted gear, weapons you already created will have the same base stats as before but if you craft those same items again, they may end up being a little better due to the way weapon crafting is handled.
It may take some time to get used to the new crafting changes, but they are worth exploring. Check the full patch notes for details and breakdowns on all of the updates.
