Embers Adrift Celebrates Two Years Highlighting A Laundry List Of Changes Since It First Went Live

Embers Adrift is celebrating two years since its launch, and the team is celebrating by pointing out exactly what the small indie team has done to improve the MMO since 2022.

Embers Adrift feels like, at least to me, the little MMO that could. Developed by small indie studio, Stormhaven Studios, the MMORPG has crossed the two-year anniversary mark, and the team is celebrating by reminding players of exactly how the MMORPG has improved ever since its launch.

In a post to the MMORPG's forums, community developer Elloa highlighted a veritable laundry list of updates, including the change in business model from a buy and sub to simply a buy-to-play MMO with an optional subscription. The MMO has also created a free trial out of its first zone to give interested players a taste of what to expect from the old-school inspired MMO.

Ember's Adrift has added multiple new zones, dungeons, and much more in the course of its two years in live ops, including some solo loops in dungeons to make them more playable when you can't get a group together.  We also saw a PvP Proving Grounds added after its epic April Fool's tease earlier this year, a mail system, new quests, and much more.

It's a great story for our industry to watch a passionate team build what is admittedly a niche MMO in a niche genre. Instead of being content with the release and the state of the game at launch, it really feels like Stormhaven has listened to feedback over the last two years with the aim to make its MMO stand the test of time. As a way of celebrating, the team is sharing player testimonials on its Twitter page, showcasing community sentiment around the MMO.

Additionally, the aren't resting on their laurels, as the team announced a revamp to the Redshore Forest area to "offer a better playground" to the playerbase.

While we weren't huge fans of the state of Embers Adrift at launch, with our reviewer lamenting the grind, performance issues and its "painfully slow" combat, the experience today looks to be much different than it was just a few years ago, and is worth a second look if you've been on the fence.
