Embers Adrift Adds Set Bonuses, and a Series of Improvements to Player Experience

Embers Adrift got a new update this week, mostly dealing with  improvements and fixes,  but there was another new addition that will grow in the future: Set Bonuses.

Set bonuses have officially been introduced, but right now everything is more in the ramping up stage in preparation for upcoming content that is on the way. These will work in the usual way, offering  stat bonuses when you equip multiple pieces from the same set or the same source.  Different sets might have different amounts of pieces, so they'll have to balance the bonuses for more pieces from a set that someone has equipped.

For Embers Adrift, the basics are now in place. As part of this update, set bonuses are now available for outer armor, inner armor, and jewelry. They are not applying set bonuses to existing quest rewards. This might change in the future, and set bonuses for new quest rewards are definitely on the table.

The rest of the update is mostly a series of improvements, with a bunch of UI tweaks and fixes to  a number of things in the field. NPCs that are not yet dead will show a minimum of 1% health. Dead NPC name plates in the world will sink a little bit to make sure you can tell the difference between those and the ones that are not dead. Dead NPC portraits in the UI space will also be dimmed. all of these are designed to improve visibility and let you make your decisions faster. There's now a toggle all keybind that you can set, a new drop-down for audio options, and even adjustable music volume.

All of these, and the other tweaks, should add up to an improved experience.
