The Embers Adrift team is reflecting on 2023 in the newest State of the Game devblog and looking ahead into 2024.

Recent additions to the game have been the Alchemy magic system and a brand new level 50 zone for high level players. The first phase of Grizzled Peaks offers high level content, including a brand new difficulty tier with new monsters to go along with it. These are boss-level, and have a skull icon next to their names to indicate you should proceed with caution. There are also some new quests with the addition of new areas, and a brand new beast, the Gaunt.

Other additions include two new factions, the Cor’duun and the Wildren. The first represent a high level of mobs to challenge to go along with the other high-level content. They’re particularly skilled in alchemy and feature a new loot set they forge with Ember. This may be their intro, but the Stormhaven team promises “they have some very interesting lore that is forthcoming”.

The Wildren, on the other hand, are well described as peaceful isolationists. Former slaves who cut all past ties after their escape, they want to be left alone to live in the Peaks. These people are tough, especially residing where they do, but they’re friendly.

With the latest big update,, they've also  improved the launcher,  improved and increased item options, added helpful functions to the UI, and added new loot.

The next update will bring a new Ember Vein dungeon, new quests, and backend upgrades. They’re looking ahead into 2024 and thanking the community for their ongoing support of an independent classic MMO-inspired game without microtransactions. We’ll get a 2024 roadmap soon. See the full devblog for more on the new high-level activities.
