Embers Adrift’s new update is here, with several upgrades, fixes, and some brand new content, including a new city Monolith.
That’s right, a Monolith in the city. Stormhaven has announced Newhaven City’s Ley Pylon. To make sure that a city monolith would be different from the ones you encounter throughout the world, they took some time to get this right. “ Otherwise, what is to stop creatures and exiles from just invading?!” they rightly ask.
With that in mind, the Ley Pylon is unique. Everyone on the server can take part in an effort to activate it, and once it is active, it will be available for Monolith travel for a few days in real time. Activation will persist through server resets or downtime, so the clock is always ticking. Of course, there should be opportunities to activate it again.
The update adds a number of other improvements including an upgrade from Unity engine 2021 to 2022, performance improvement on Mac OS, and some additional fixes. The team has updated and improved VFX now with custom settings on each NPC. Non-alchemy abilities got improved visuals too. They've also reworked how scene loading happens to reduce performance issues and the client potentially locking up. loading up a number of different elements is now spread over multiple frames so that the client is not doing everything at once.
Embers Adrift’s ongoing quality of life changes are also present here. One of the most important is in the health regen revamp. Now you will be able to regenerate health at all times, including a small amount in combat. Most of the time, health regenerated in combat isn't going to make much of a difference but out of combat your region rate will be faster so this should reduce the amount of downtime as you progress through the levels.
The team has also made a number of changes to smooth out the Gathering progression and make Dense resource nodes more efficient. These nodes will have their own updated visuals to easily distinguish between nodes.
