Ember Sword’s Prologue closed beta has begun, and the team is detailing what’s available along with responding to the community on some of the initial beta issues.
This closed beta opened up on Friday and the early phase is being held on the test net for people who meet certain criteria. For those who meet that criteria, they can start playing this “very early” version of Ember Sword. Bright Star does emphasize that this is a test, and there are definitely things missing, including quests, onboarding stuff, and the size of the playable map is also small. Essentially, don't expect anything to be polished, but this is an early opportunity to get involved and give the team feedback to help them improve things.
Recently, in announcing the start of this closed beta, the team also referred to it as an Early Access, but are referring to it as closed beta now more extensively. Their focus is on expanding the game, making it bigger, adding new content, new features, and again making changes based on player feedback. They've also asked everyone to keep in mind that as this is a test and they will be doing a lot of work on it, expect wipes and resets.
In this version on the test net, you can receive cosmetic NFT drops, and get started in the game with basic gear and the ability to craft some other basic tools once you get some resources from killing some mobs.
Over on Discord, there's an update on the closed beta launch issues. Most of them are of the variety that most of us are used to like server crashes and instability, disconnects, and bugginess in the world. Some of the players are noticing that when they are disconnected or when they need to reload the game, their characters turn bald. Fixes are rolling out Or planned for future updates.
