Elyon, the MMORPG formerly known as Ascent: Infinite Realm, has finally released in the West today. The fantasy MMORPG has been out in Korea for some time now, and after an initial delay and business model change, Kakao's MMO is open to new players to explore the world.
While the MMO has been playable for a few days thanks to its headstart access, the official launch happens today. The basic premise of Elyon sees two warring realms, Vulpin and Ontari, vie for control over the eponymous Elyon, a portal to paradise. The MMORPG has its roots in the the steampunk - fantasy themed Ascent: Infinite Realm, which first showed off gameplay back during GStar 2017. However, the pivot from the airship combat focused A:IR to the more traditional style showcased in Elyon today evokes much of what the team at Bluehole Studio built originally with their previous title, TERA.
