Today is the day the closed beta kicks off for Elyon, the MMORPG formerly known as Ascent Infinite Realm. Here’s what you need to know if you’re able to hop in.
The team made the client available to download earlier this week ahead of today’s closed beta release. The beta itself will run through May 10. Keep in mind, this is the first beta for the West. So while this closed beta period is rather short, it’s safe to assume additional betas will arrive and run for longer.
If you have yet to download the game client, it’s actually rather simple to do. Just navigate to the official website and log into your account. If you did have a Black Desert Online account before Pearl Abyss took over Western publishing earlier this year, that same account should still work here.
Once you log in, you’ll notice a Download button near the top of the page. Simply click that to begin the download of the client. The team Tweeted previously in case you missed the download info:
Travelers! ??It is almost time. The CBT1 Client Pre-Download is now available! Head over to our website and log in to access the download button. ?? https://t.co/EKACWrQTbZWe will see you in 2 days! ♥? pic.twitter.com/Gk4mcPC5lZ

In case you missed it, the team published a game guide yesterday ahead of today’s closed beta. The guide explains several basics about Elyon, including information regarding how account names will function. It also provides a glimpse into character creation.
Because Elyon features RvR (realm vs realm), the beta will actually allow you to select which realm you want to side with after you select your server of choice. Keep in mind that you cannot change your realm after you selected it, so choose wisely.
During the closed beta, the game will host clan wars which will see groups of 10 players duke it out against other player groups to control a fortress. You’ll have to do this by capturing various mana diggers. If you want to check out these clan wars, you can do so on Saturday and Sunday for two hours beginning at 6p PDT / 9p EDT.
