The latest developer blog on the Crowfall site has been published. This time, rather than exploring a specific Archetype, Thomas "Blixtev" Blair writes about the Elken race, or the "Mur-DEER race. The change comes from the recent change from individual Archetypes to more Race / Class combinations.
Each Crowfall race will have a "baked in" Racial Discipline that is unchangeable but that will provide offer "very different and very significant gameplay elements". For instance, the Elken receive a number of boons including:
- Elken receive an attribute bonus to both Strength and Constitution.
- They receive a perception bonus, which is applied when they use any “Reveal Stealth” power.
- They gain increased range on any ranged power they activate,
- Additionally, they get a Bloodline Power (a free passive)…
Bloodline Passives will not "chew up" a passive slot, hence the "free" moniker. Elken receive the Trailmaster that enhances out of combat run speed by 25%. They also have two Active Powers that can be added to the Power Tray if desired. These Active Powers are Head Butt that deals damage and knocks opponents down and Gestalt which rewards players with Shadow Sight for 8 seconds that reveals nearby stealthed players.
Elken can play the following classes: Ranger, Knight, Confessor, and Templar.
