Fresh off its announcement at The Game Awards last week, Elden Ring: Nightreign, the surprise upcoming co-op standalone sequel to FromSoftware’s epic RPG, is getting a closed network test.

The closed test is going to happen in February on all platforms. If you're interested, you can find out more and even sign up to the mailing list to know when the test registrations go live. Bandai Namco announced that test registration will open on January 10th, 2025, so there’s still a bit of time to wait.

In the announcement they know that this is “a preliminary verification test”  and selected testers will be able to test a portion of the game. What they're looking for is verification of online systems and infrastructure so we can expect a lot of network load tests. With the cross-platform release, especially with the co-op involved, this makes perfect sense, Because with the types of boss fights ahead, you don't want to be caught with insufficient server capacity.

With the test itself scheduled for February, now we can start wondering and speculating on when we might see the game itself. When it was announced last week, we only got a 2025 release window for the eventual launch on PC Xbox and PlayStation.
