If the ever-lovely Final Fantasy 14 readers of MMORPG needed another reminder to do it, here it is: Go log in to FFXIV next the next chance you get and grab the free Fantasia that’s vanishing with the start of 7.2. But that might not be a worry, as supposedly, according to just-published patch notes, we're getting... more Fantasia?
The preliminary notes for Patch 7.2, titled "Seekers of Eternity," have released, and in it, there's a curious tidbit. Under "Graphical Update," a blurb explains that character models are getting changed once again, which means that they're offering a Fantasia just in case you really hate the changes. However, it's the same exact NPC as before, which begs the question: Is this a new Fantasia, or are we just getting the offer extended?
Either way, free Fantasias are good. As a general reminder, the character-changing Optional Item item usually costs $10 on its own, with packs of five really only saving you $5 (I know some of you hate to hear that), so getting an extra free Fantasia in this economy is great. So, just in case we're actually getting doubled up on Fantasias, you might want to grab this ASAP.
To find the Moogle, you just go to Old Gridania and find the Wandering Moogle at coordinates 10.7, 6.4. He’ll have a little notification above his head, and you’ll be able to grab it in an instant.
This newest Fantasia giveaway is the latest development we know of in FFXIV’s struggle to make everyone’s character look great. It started with some less-than-minor updates that premiered with the benchmark, which led to another benchmark being made with further changes. Patch 7.1 saw a few more tweaks, and they were notable enough that this Wandering Moogle was offered.
It’s not the first and only Fantasia giveaway, as there’s a permanent one in Ul’dah as well in Steps of Thal. The quest also clarifies the use of the Fantasia, giving an NPC’s wild transformation after use of the potion as an example.
As for everything else to come after this new patch comes—well, it’s a lot, but piecewise, including new game modes, the usual MSQ, the next raid tier, and more, as all outlined in the latest Live Letter.
