EA Wins Dubious Honor as Most Downvoted Reddit Post Ever for Star Wars Battlefront 2

EA has earned a rather dubious honor today with Star Wars Battlefront 2 the subject of the most downvoted Reddit Post in history. The post was made in response to a Redditor who wrote on the subject of how heroes are unlocked in the game. The thread is called "Seriously? I paid $80 to have Vader locked?

EA responded to the thread:

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the open beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily bases, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

However, community manager Mat Everett responded to the community's unrest in a Twitter post that has since been deleted but was captured and archived. Many felt that he demeaned the concerns with a flippant post.

The issue stems from a spreadsheet called "Galactic Assault Analysis" that indicated it would take about 40 hours to unlock a hero by simply playing the game. With each hero costing 60,000 credits and players only earning 50 per match, that is indeed a steep price. Lockbox conversion of items to credits can speed that up.

This issue comes hot on the heels of the recent kerfuffle surrounding loot boxes

Where do you stand?

Thanks, ByrgenarHofen!
