After several months of quiet closed development, Fractured Online developer Dynamight Studios has announced that they have parted ways with Gamigo and will self-publish the game.
Back in December, Fractured Online’s servers went offline after the team shared that they would bring the game back into closed development to resolve technical issues with issues on what they said were “technical issues with a third-party backend platform”. Around this time, the game was removed from Gamigo's site. Now, Dynamight Studios is moving forward with release independently.
“In order for these issues to be addressed fully, gamigo and Dynamight Studios have now resolved to part ways in 2023. This means Fractured Online will cease to be part of the gamigo portfolio and will be operated by Dynamight Studios.”
What this means for Fractured Online is nothing right away. It will remain in closed development for a bit longer while this split is finalized, and players can transfer account data from Gamigo over to Dynamight Studios. They promise an announcement on just how this will work and when it can begin will come soon.
After this process is complete, they plan to once again restore access through the Fractured Online site for a new, limited test. Once they’ve done that, “the game will be available again on Steam, with no more server wipes planned”.
While Fractured Online was available in Early Access, the team had added two of the game’s planned three races, with the Demons and their home world yet to be added. There was a potential to be back up by March, but that didn't happen. Now that the team is setting course to self-publish and continue development, it probably won’t be too long before there are some development updates before that new limited test happens.
Until then, though, this news is at least an update on where things stand after the sudden closed development notice and taking the servers offline.
