Today, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria arrives on a new platform, with PlayStation 5 owners now able to enjoy the survival crafting game.
The game is set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, and sets you off to explore some of the deepest locations of the Dwarves. Lord Gimli Lockbearer himself summons you for a special task–head into the Mines of Moria, als known as Khazad-dûm–to recover some treasures that could potentially be restored later.
As a survival game, the procedurally generated environments will be different every time, so you'll have to use your excellent mining and building skills to mine resources and to keep yourself safe from the challenges that you;ll find in the depths. Create forges, set fires to light the way, and of course, craft fine armor and weapons to aid your journey. You won’t be alone in those caves, and mining creates noise, so you’ll have to prepare to battle goblins, spiders, and other enemies that you might awaken down below.
Some of the key features include co-op multiplayer, base building, crafting legendary items, including from iron, gold, and even Mithril. Your company of Dwarves can be played solo or with up to four player co-op on console (and eight on PC).
Strategically discover, mine, and use resources in order to secure your group on the journey into the deepest caverns. This will mean building a secure base, but also armoring and arming everyone with the best weapons you can supply. On the way you will be able to clear locations to create additional architecture, utilizing the grand talents of the Dwarves to build and transform the caves.
Developer Free Range Games says that the Xbox Series X|S version will be out in 2024, but the console rollout has officially commenced.
