Dungeons & Dragons Online Will Open Its 64-bit Cormyr Server to All Players

After opening the 64-bit Cormyr server to all players for a limited time recently, the Dungeons & Dragons Online team has decided to open the server to everyone permanently.

The server will open to everyone on Wednesday April 30th, and this will also become the recommended world for all new DDO installations. The server was originally opened just for VIP subscribers and one of the selling points was the server-exclusive Lanterns in the Mists event.

The server was open to all for almost 90 days, so this change isn't too different from what we've been seeing since before that access period ended in mid-April. So, if you already created a character on Cormyr,  it will be there. Those with VIP accounts that have characters on the server will get a temporary  boost to VIP XP on gold daily dice rolls.

If you have characters that you want to bring from a 32-bit server to Cormyr,  that will have to wait a bit as the team is still working on their transfer technology. There's no word on a time frame but they expect to announce new servers in the US and Europe and transfer plans. Standing Stone Games is unsurprisingly going to take their time to work after the 64-bit transfer issues for The Lord of the Rings Online.
