There's a new roadmap too

Dungeons & Dragons Online has a brand new roadmap and the producer's letter discusses major changes as well as some of what's ahead.

The 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons was in 2024 and the Year of the Dragon was part of the celebration in DDO, with a number of gifts to claim. In the letter, producer Amanda “Tolero” Grow looks back and mentions that one more gift that will be available late this month, the Dragon Disciple monk archetype. This final gift will be available free for everyone.

Last year was big for a number of reasons. The Magic of Myth Drannor expansion was one, along with the Lanterns in the Mists event, which runs exclusively on the 64-bit Cormyr server. Cormyr is still allowing everyone access regardless of membership until April so you can check out the event freely. The 19th anniversary is coming up, hence the release of the Dragon Disciple monk as well as a new raid on the way. The raid will feature the new enemy, a Hydra.

The new roadmap  outlines the year,  starting with those updates. Cormyr was the first, but we can expect more 64-bit Game servers to all of DDO,  as well as new European servers. These will start rolling out in Q2 this year. Q2 will have new dungeons start rolling out, and year two of the VIP Loyalty Rewards. We are teased with more cosmetics, and  bonuses that stack with the prior years bonuses.

In Q3 over the summer, the Lamordia expansion is coming. This means it’s time to go back to Ravenloft, with its Victorian horror style. The story content will provide some answers as to who has been freeing Dark Lords. The expansion will also add the Dhampir playable race.

Later in the year, Q4 is set to bring a new Live event across all servers. you can opt in and group with others, regardless of what everyone is working on. We do get a tease about the event, in that “we have some Fey mischief afoot!”.

The DDO team has also been working on performance and optimization, And some of their work was helped by the introduction of the 64-bit server and community feedback. This and the efforts to reduce lag are leading to an unspecified but “important change” that we’ll hear more about later.
