Dune: Spice Wars (which we recently previewed) has been in Early Access  for about a month now,  and developer Shiro Games and Funcom have released a roadmap with updates planned for the Early Access release. Expect a new faction, new units, and co-op and PvP multiplayer.

The roadmap reveals several major features coming. This summer, they plan to add multiplayer. You'll be able to choose between co-op and free-for-all PVP modes. This will support up to four players at the same time,  So you can go ahead and spy and scheme against your friends or enemies. Also in summer, a brand new playable faction is planned, joining Atreides, Harkonnen, Smugglers, and Fremen. The upcoming faction will also bring new victory conditions with its arrival. There are no hints yet at what this new faction could be, but you can start guessing now.

Later, after the summer updates, but with no revealed window yet, they plan to add new units and buildings like spaceports, ships, and more in the Air and Sand update, which looks focused on strategic options. Also coming will be the ability to activate your councillors to become special agents within your faction. They’ll be controllable Hero units for your faction, each with their own unique abilities. It's another way to potentially get a strategic advantage, along with, of course, engaging a little more with the Dune IP.

While these are just the beginning of what you can look forward to in the 4X-RTS strategy blend, the addition of multiplayer should bring the game to a new level. This is not the only list of new features are willing to add, Shiro promises that there will be improvements in various areas of the game with every update, along with new features.

You can read more about the roadmap and Early Access over at Dune: Spice Wars.
