Flexing the Funcom creative team’s muscles a little more, the Dune: Awakening developers have shared the first part of a radio play, titled Five Days at Carthag. A part of the game's canon, Five Days at Carthag will be played in five parts via Dune: Awakening’s in-game radio’s official channels, along with other stations, such as the famous soundtrack to the beloved 90s Dune 1 and Dune 2 games.
The play seems to have been commissioned by the Padishah Emperor, who is the active ruler of the Known Universe, as entertainment for all classes. It portrays the “official truth” of the Carthag incident, as told through a fictionalization of old records unsealed for the artistic pursuit.
The core story of this part, at least, follows a worker on Arrakis named Dayvan who’s going to work in the midst of intergalactic turmoil. He and his mother lament the worsening working conditions in light of attacks on the planet, while Dayvan himself is being forced into double shifts in weapons testing. But bigger things are on the horizon, as they’ll learn.
Dune: Awakening launches We’ll know more about the combat system soon thanks to an upcoming livestream. It’ll launch into a full 1.0 version when it releases on May 20.
