Funcom’s latest “Communinet Signal” newsletter for Dune: Awakening has been posted, and with it are some more details and previews of the upcoming MMORPG. Much of the blog, as usual, recaps what was shared throughout the month and shows off some nifty fanart, but a few more new goodies have been shared.

A major adversary in the Dune: Universe world has been unveiled: the Sardaukar, one of the most well-trained threats in the Known Universe, trained since a young age to serve its emperor. In Dune: Awakening, Sardaukar will be deployed via a drop ship, which patrols the sands for stragglers and captures them with anti-gravity fields.

Some community questions about the game’s minor but important details are also answered yet again. This time, we learn that the in-game “Fief” estates can be expanded five times sideways and upwards, and guns have minute details built in such as fall off, recoil patterns, magazine size, and more, including many that reflect the circumstances, buffs, and debuffs with which they’re being shot.

Also, Dune: Awakening uses metric units, “because Frank Herbert also used metrics in the books.” Thanks, lore experts.

In this post, the Dune: Awakening team promises plenty more material this month; we already know there’s a livestream about combat coming, and we got a taste of the world through a radio play.
