Dune: Awakening gets another preview video from Funcom, this time covering flexibility in playing solo or with others in the multiplayer survival title.

Funcom’s Joel Bylos talks about how you can look forward to playing Dune: Awakening. In previous videos, the team took us through why Arrakis is such a dangerous, varied, and great place to set a survival MMO. Last time, they gave a peek at base building on what they call the most dangerous planet in the universe and some of the factors you’ll have to consider in the punishing environments.

This time, the flexibility in how you can play. Of course, you can explore and build your own base, and prepare to survive the harsh land by yourself. Head out to collect water drop by drop, and find resources for crafting building materials. Explore and find the remnants of what the Fremen have left and guide yourself. These are the basics, but when you add other players, more options open up.

If you are playing with others, certain possibilities open up that aren’t there when you’re avoiding rousing the sandworms all by yourself. One advantage comes in strategic team composition. Bylos shows a Mentat in a group, being able to scan the scene and to identify just where the enemies are. Once you know that, then strategic planning isn’t going in blind and hoping for the best. Other things you can look forward to are traveling in multi-seat vehicles and the ornithopters.

This is another very short video, but it’s safe to presume that there are other advantages from different team composition types that can shape the journey ahead.
