Dune: Awakening got a new story trailer today, as Funcom announced a beta weekend in May, along with a Global LAN Party event that could be your way to a beta invite.

After a recent delay, the open world survival MMO will launch on June 10th, but on May 10th, the Global LAN Party will be streamed from London and PAX East in Boston (where you can play the game if you're at the con). This will be followed by a large beta weekend that has no NDA, so you can play and stream and share your experiences.

The beta weekend actually begins on May 9th and runs through May 12th, and this is the largest beta for Dune: Awakening. Request beta access on the game's steam page as well as watch the LAN party stream because they'll be giving out tens of thousands of codes.

If you've been on the fence, this beta test will give you a lot to chew over and decide if you want to buy the game and construct a base and start a new adventure deep in the perilous environments of Arrakis.

The beta will feature the first 20 hours of the game and almost the entirety of Act 1 of the story.  The new narrative trailer released today gives just a taste of that story. “You have one task. Find the Fremen. Wake the Sleeper,” is a mandate that will shape your time on the planet.
