There are two months left until the hotly-anticipated release of Dune: Awakening, and Funcom is ready to answer some big questions. In a new blog from the team including an update video, we learn about the monetization and post-launch models, as well as the specs for its PC players.

In a time of plenty of early access games, Funcom reiterates that Dune: Awakening will launch in full on its announced release date—though some players will have a head start with certain editions of the game, which Creative Director Joel Bylos says will help them balance the game.

Regarding DLC, there will be optional standalone content expansions to buy, though one option will be a “season pass” that bundles several of these. On top of this, there’ll be free and regular content and quality of life fixes. At least we can say these are reliable claims from Funcom’s past MMORPG works, The Secret World and Conan Exiles, which both ran on similar monetization models; the newer free-to-play Secret Worlds Legends client even includes all of its predecessor’s DLC for free.

As for who can run it, the minimum requirements for PC are as follows:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or newer) (no Mac, Linux for now)
  • Processor:?Intel Core i5-7400, AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • Memory:?16 GB RAM
  • Graphics:?NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB), AMD Radeon 5600XT (6GB)
  • 60 GB available space

They also have a full chart of recommended settings on the blog, in case you want to go a little higher.

And if you have the gear for it, there are a few native features with third-party companies as well. We already knew about the Nvidia DLSS 4 at launch, but now we also know AMD’s FSR and Intel’s XeSS 2 will be available, as well as Razer Chroma LGB tools and Razer Sensa HD Haptics, if you have the cushion for it.

If you aren’t sure if it’ll run still, or if it will at higher graphics, you can always try the free benchmark, which includes a character creator that saves your toon for launch. Will you be grabbing this at launch—and maybe a season pass?
