With the Athena update coming after a final test, the developers of Dual Universe have published a new devblog detailing what you need to know about the system map update that's coming.
The system map will be laid out to scale and players can navigate and pan around the system map to get a better idea of space and direction. You will be able to rotate the map and toggle some of the display settings that are relevant to you. This means you can strip down the map to whatever you need the most or you can add more information if you feel it's relevant. Information options include constructs, points of interest, and resource spots.
You'll also be able to set a warp point and it won't replace your current destination waypoint. This expansion of options is important with the new systems like the Alien Core Units that are coming and the new zones for first time players or players who want a lighter chance of PVP action. From the menus, you can also set destinations, open planet maps, and set those warp points.
As with other options in Dual Universe, this is player choice in action. Some people prefer a cleaner map and others need more information to pursue their goals. you can also reset the map to default location and options if it has gotten unwieldy. Other additions to the map that you will notice are exact distance indicators between where your avatar is located and any location you choose by mousing over the destination.
Athena is coming, and while the earlier emphasis and announcements sometimes focused on the PVP side and war coming, the update is much bigger than that, and these map additions and options are one part.
