Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, Bandai Namco’s latest Dragon Ball Z video game, has blown up on the Steam charts cruising well past 100,000 concurrent users and snatching the crown for the highest concurrent user record on Steam for a premium fighting game from Street Fighter 6.
Street Fighter 6 previously held the record with 70,573 concurrent users, followed by Tekken 8 at 49,977, and Mortal Kombat 1 at 38,129. Player First Games’ MultiVersus achieved an impressive 153, 433 concurrent user record back when it launched in 2022, but this isn’t necessarily a fair comparison as the game is free to play. That said, as of this writing the peak concurrent user count for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is 122,554, which puts the game within striking distance of MultiVersus’s record.
What’s most impressive about Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero’s feat is that the record was crushed during the game’s three day early access period, where the game reached over 90K concurrent users. The only way to play the game this early was to pony up over $100 for one of the game’s more premium editions.
Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
