Bioware has announced that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not utilize any third party DRM, including the much maligned Denuvo, though this does mean PC players will not be able to preload the game.

Denuvo DRM is a digital rights management tool many game studios rely on in an attempt to prevent their games from being pirated. The software has done a better job than most in curbing piracy, especially during the critical first few weeks of a game’s release, but players have long reported its inclusion has led to significant performance issues. The omission of Denuvo is definitely a win for PC gamers, but the lack of preload is sure to be disappointing for some.

PC specifications were also detailed in the announcement, with minimum specs targeting 1080p30 requiring an Intel Core i5 6400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, 16GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290X to run. The game will also require 100GB of drive space and BioWare recommends an SSD, though HDD are supported.

Xbox players can begin preloading the game right now, while PlayStation 5 players can preload on October 29 at 9AM PDT.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will launch at 9AM PDT / 12PM ET on October 31 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
