Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gets a Foreboding (Brief) Preview Clip From Tomorrow's Big Gameplay Reveal

BioWare isn’t set to reveal the first gameplay video for Dragon Age: The Veilguard until tomorrow, but there’s a sneak peek out now to tease tomorrow’s big reveal.

The short clip shows Varric Tethras and the player character, known as Rook, heading into the city of Minrathous. The setting is moody, dark, and the two are headed into the city in search of Neve Gallus, an investigator who may have a lead on Solas. Neve was introduced as one of the seven new companions in the upcoming single-player RPG, along with the other companions in a trailer some called too flashy for Dragon Age.

Well, this darker clip seems to be hitting in a different way and silencing some of the criticism and comparisons to games like Fortnite. Not only do we get a hint at the search for Solas, which has been going on for some time, and how difficult it seems to be, but the return of fan-favorite Varric, and a snippet of what the male Rook’s voice will sound like.

All of this is coming ahead of tomorrow’s big promised 15 minutes of gameplay. Over in the community, the new clip is already getting some positive responses. On X, user SynthPotato says “Tonally so different from that reveal trailer, seems genuinely dark and foreboding... this feels like dragon age”. And on Reddit, some are noting the rapid release of this preview clip after some of the wildly different reactions to the first trailer introducing the variety of different companions and the setting.  “Legit this is the most “Here y’all, damn” post I’ve seen,” user N7_Turtle commented

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is coming sometime this fall. Full gameplay reveal will happen tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET/ 8 a.m. PT.
